CodingTeam is a free and easy to use forge designed for you. Your projects need simplicity and intuitivity!
A little bit of history. The project is born in march 2005 but the first public version (0.42) was released in june 2007. The first motivation of this project was to make a good forge for French-speaking users. Now, developers focus on accessibility and easy-to-use (this forge is recognized by many people as one of the only forge to have understandable and intuitive HCI). CodingTeam is available in many languages and the "lightweight but powerful" philosophy now benefits to everybody!
CodingTeam integrates a lot of Jabber and XMPP features. You'll get presence for the users and MUC for projects. Projects can also use a forum, a news system or a complete documentation system (based on the wiki model). You can also authentifiate users via the XEP-0070.
CodingTeam follows the OpenForge specification that allows forge to share datas. This is used by a forge to perform external search, or showing informations about a project or an user registered on another forge.
With CodingTeam, you get Subversion repositories for each projects, to help you share your code and provide a real teamwork for your project. In the future, others VCS will be supported.
You also get a full bug tracking system. Never forget an issue or a bug, users report their bugs and you class them before you upload a file with the fix. A roadmap is also generated with bug data.
CodingTeam implements a gettext based online translation system. Just upload your .pot and your users will start to translate your software in their own languages. After that, you just need to export the .po and it's done!
Projects have a lot of RSS/ATOM feed that allows you to reach informations about the whole project or about one part of the project (news, downloads, commits…). Use the Timeline to get informations about the project's activity!
Statistics are a funny way to see if a project is still alive or to get informations about project involving, that's why CodingTeam can generate charts. And because we love standards, we choose SVG.
CodingTeam provides files download capability and screenshots hosting for projects. You can search or browse projects with multiple criterias, and filter them by downloads number, popularity…
We think that nothing should be neglected and that all little details are as important as a must-have functionnality. For example, when you are browsing source code, this code is higlighted by the language syntax. This is a well-known functionnality. But what about select this code and paste it elsewhere? On something like 90% of the websites, it will fail. But you can do it with CodingTeam.
Once CodingTeam is running, administrators can do all routines work online. They don't have to go in some opaque configuration files. They can browse all uploaded files and delete them, they can edit the configuration of the software, they can enable or disable views or entire modules, they can validate projects in the queue, they can manage registered users and, last but not least, they can also edit all forge data (like authorized licenses, categories, languages…).
Another good example is the notepad. That is really some of the usefull functionnalities that we all use everyday. You can paste anything you want to this sort of wall and set an expire time on it. And you can link a paste to a bug, typically when you paste a log or an error output!
